Interruption — Greece-France-Croatia, , DCP, c/r,

Interruption is one of the most intelligent films I have seen lately and Yorgos Zois is without doubt one of the most unique voices in European cinema today.

Interruption takes Greek myths to tantalizing levels. My reaction was visceral and then I read up on "Orestes" to see how amazing and genius Interruption really is. 10/10

Synopsis A postmodern adaptation of a classic Greek tragedy is on show in central Athens. Like every night, patrons take their seats and the play begins. Suddenly, the stage lights go out. Young people dressed in black and carrying guns take over the theater. They apologize for the interruption and invite members of the audience to join them on stage. The play resumes with a main difference, life imitates art not the opposite.

Interruption premiered in the Orizzonti section at the 72nd Venice International Film Festival, which features the latest aesthetic and expressive trends in cinema. The film garnered positive reviews around the world for its meta aesthetics and daring narration. Well respected directors like Ruben Ostlund and Romain Gavras have expressed admiration for it.

Interruption received nine Hellenic Film Academy nominations and won Best Newcomer Director. It has been presented and screened at more than 40 festivals including Istanbul, Palm Springs, Sarajevo, Paris, Mumbai, Vilnius, and Sao Paolo as well as at universities such as Columbia and NYU.
